It has been an exciting and blessed several weeks since we last updated.
The culmination of activities took place last week due to a group coming from Stevens Point Wisconsin to serve. The group is part of Woodlands Church and partnered with a local church here to serve Dunamis. There were 6 women from the States and 3-4 Ecuadorian women who worked with the girls during the morning and took on a painting project in the afternoon. Crystal led the painting team, using her Spanish to buy materials and lead the Ecuadorians as well as instruct and supervise those from Wisconsin.
In addition to the women, ten men came down to work with a handful of Ecuadorians on a building project ( a workshop) at the new property. This is not the girls residential home which we be starting this month, but a workshop that the girls will use to make their jewelry and execute other various projects. It was an amazing week to see how hard working these men are and what they can accomplish in such a short time. I was able to have fun working alongside the group as well as coordinate material deliveries, problem solving with the the leaders and local Ecuadorian Architects, and share a little about God’s mission here in Quito. Having this group from Woodlands come and serve was a huge blessing! Crystal and I as well as the Dunamis staff were humbled by their hardwork, servant hearts, and desire to love upon and encourage the girls as well as staff.
A few blessings and praises from this month:
Waking up at midnight to a 4.8 earthquake! No one was hurt nor anything damaged, and we eventually went back to sleep.
A large mission group from Texas visited Dunamis one day and prayed over the girls and purchased jewelry. This group shared their heart for the Dunamis mission and commitment to pray for the girls.
We spent time with very sweet couple, Devon and Victoria, from North Carolina, who served humbly and with great love at Dunamis for three weeks.
We celebrated our three year anniversary by going on a little adventure/hike in the mountains and spending time with our Ecuadorian family here.
Crystal finally got to spend time with some llamas!
Our Spanish is improving! God has blessed us tremendously with friends, coworkers, and a Spanish instructor who are patient and willing to speak Spanish with us.
We visited the beautiful Historical district in Quito with Marcos, my now good friend, and his beautiful family. We were so thankful to go on a “mini-tour” of Quito with this family.
Praise for the amazing family who has taken us in as “Thomasito” and “Crystalita” we are so thankful for their willingness and excitement to have us here and their tremendous support in so many ways!
Praise and thankfulness for our friends, family, and partners in the U.S and around the world. We are continually grateful for your prayers and support!
For the current group of girls attending Dunamis- that they would continue to receive healing and restoration from our heavenly Father.
For guidance and discernment for the Dunamis staff as many big transitions are on the horizon.
That God would continue to provide financially for the girls full-time home.
That Crystal and I would continue to seek the Lord above all else.
Thank you for taking the time to hear about what God has been doing here in Quito. Please email us if you have any questions as we are always delighted to hear from you! Below is a slideshow of some of our pictures from this last month. Blessings! - A.T. and Crystal
