What an experience this last couple of years have been! As you know we have been back in the U.S. to prepare for the expansion of our family, adding a little guy, and preparing for what is ahead for us. This has been a time of learning about having a baby as well as refining what direction our life is most likely heading.
With much prayer and reflection Crystal decided that she would like to have a natural, unmedicated childbirth if the Lord wills. Through an amazing act of grace God provided a doula, Joni, who waived her fee. This was something that we really wanted but didn’t think we would be able to do. Joni is now truly part of the family and we could not imagine a more supportive and kind friend to help bring baby into this world.
On September 14, Crystals water broke at 8:00 a.m. and we promptly headed to the hospital. Joni met us there and we arrived in the first room around 9:00 am. By 11:45 the same morning Thomas Allen Holder II was born! Healthy baby boy weighed 8.2lb, 21”. For a first time mom, Crystal was abundantly blessed for the time to be short and the many prayers answered to have a natural birth. It was a miracle, an act of mercy, and a celebration that we could not imagine in our lives. Praise be to God as all around us seemed to react to the quick birth, the love we share, and our prayers in incredible ways.
Being new parents is one of the most marvelous, humbling, and amazing gifts of our lives. We look at this little kid’s face and joy overflows in us. Sleep is no longer a constant activity, schedules have gone out the window, and we are loving the new season we are in!
God’s timing is something that we are learning to lean into. Crystal and I continue to be in prayer about this next season, as a family of three now, and seeking the Lord’s will. We have conversed with several different anti-trafficking and justice aimed organizations around the world and have also had some interviews. We are very excited; however intent to sink into a posture of surrender and mindfulness as we seek the Lord in this season.
Please be praying for our next steps, our time of transition and guidance for our new role as parents.
Thank you for your support, celebrating Thomasito with us, for the many kind words since we have been in the States, for a baby shower, gifts, meals during this time of recovery, and for your prayers for us. We have never felt so loved and embraced!
