With so much happening in your lives and ours we wanted to send out a quick update about life in South East Asia.
My role continues to involve much time invested in research. Recently, I have focused on networking with other organizations around the world who also fight human trafficking to develop a better understanding of global trends and how other organizations are addressing similar problems. The other half of the week I have been using my construction management skills to help finish up the school. The school is a huge building with the capacity for 1500 students and will greatly help in prevention and equipping a community. There are some other projects AIM is hopeful about starting so I have been getting bids from contractors and working on designs as well.
In January I accompanied two other men for a research trip into Laos. Often times when looking into trafficking danger lies ahead but for this trip it was nothing but blessings for the three of us. We learned about the coffee harvesting process and the countless hours of labor that goes into ‘from seed to your cup. Thank you to all of you who joined in praying for this trip.
Crystal began her new role as the long term volunteer orientation coordinator for AIM. Due to the size of AIM and the nature of the work here, many people around the world move to Cambodia in order to serve. Crystal’s job is to help their transitions go as smooth as possible. Our family recently had the privilege of welcoming two of our newest members to AIM. Crystal also assists in side projects pertaining to supporting the long term expat staff here.
Agape has been working hard in the new year. Our prevention efforts are around 1000 people a month, almost 200 people have been rescued, 75 girls/women have been reintegrated from a shelter, and we have 52 new girls/women in our facility. We are always humbled when we look at the numbers and see what God is doing in so many areas! You can check out the AIM Highlight Video here: https://vimeo.com/307773976
LIFE IN CAMBODIA FOR THE HOLDERS
We are so excited about the coming of baby number two! Crystal is 20 weeks pregnant!
Tommy is 18 months old and a busy sweet boy. He continues to adjust well and God has answered our prayer to place others in his life to love him like family. We love spending time with him and seeing how God is constantly revealing himself to us in this small boy. He loves to dance and you will often find him giggling or following his Dad around.
We have been given the opportunity to share our house with a Cambodian woman named Phally (Polly). She is currently finishing up her last year of college. She has been a huge blessing and encouragement to us; she loves Jesus and is always busy serving those around her.
Over the last four months we have had many visitors stay with us, we have called it our, “Season of hosting.” My mother came for a few weeks, followed by two different filming crews, and lastly a dear friend from the time of life where Crystal and I met back in Americorps NCCC. There are so many blessings that come from sharing our life and home as well as experiencing different parts and aspects of Cambodia with guests.
ON THE HORIZON:
AIM conference takes place this month with over 350 Cambodians and 50 Expats. It is a time to gather, celebrate, cast vision, and reflect on what God is doing here.

Successful and safe Laos trip
That we are pregnant!
Discernment on what country to give birth in - we have it narrowed to three potential countries (Cambodia, Germany, Thailand). This is one of the heaviest decisions we will make this year. Whichever country we chose will be a large step of faith for us. We need wisdom and peace about the life altering gift of delivery.
Please also pray for safety for Crystals pregnancy here, free from illness, and keeping our little baby safe.
Thank you for your love and support to us. God has brought us to a very different kind of life but his faithfulness is evident. We miss you all and couldn't do anything without your prayers and sacrifices for our sake. Please feel free to get in touch with us, sending questions, comments, or encouragement our way.
